Who we are:

Volleyball Bay of Plenty is the regional volleyball association for the Bay of Plenty. We are affiliated to Volleyball New Zealand as one of the 16 Regional Associations. Volleyball BOP is governed by a volunteer executive committee who set strategic direction and oversee the employees. Volleyball BOP was formed in 1997 in response to the opportunity through SPARC, an initiative through Sport Bay of Plenty, to be part of the CoachForce programme. Since then there has been a full time CoachForce Volleyball Development Officer working throughout the region on Coach Development. From 2005-2007 there was a part time Administration Assistant. In response to the massive growth of the sport, in October 2007 a full time Operations Manager was employed. Both these employees work out of the Sport Bay of Plenty office in Tauranga but service the entire Bay of Plenty sporting region, Waihi Beach in the North, Te Kaha in the East, Turangi in the South. Bay of Plenty indoor teams have dominated the sport nationally at secondary school and youth level. The Bay of Plenty is also recognised as being the national centre for beach volleyball. The sport is fortunate to have a number of high quality coaches as well as a very large pool of quality athletes. Overall the Bay of Plenty is seen as a major area of activity and achievement within Volleyball in New Zealand.
