Candidates are practically assessed as 1st and 2nd referee by National (or higher) referee. (opportunity for this on Saturday 28th August at Midlands).
Holding a Regional Referee qualification allows you to Referee at Schools and Senior/Zone Championship events like Club Championships Div 2.
Please note that Local and Regional Qualifications are listed under separate tabs. All qualifications are valid for 3 years. Once expired, you will need to sit all components of the qualification again.
Junior Referee Video - Required to referee at VNZ North Island and BOP Junior Champs (year 9 and 10 tournament/s). This is not an official qualification but rather only requires referees to have watched the VNZ Junior Referee Video (click here to access) and to have been observed refereeing a game by their coach.
Local Qualifications – Required to referee at VNZ and BOP Senior Secondary School Champs (Year 11, 12 and 13 tournament/s). Qualification requires attendance at a Local Referee Course AND completion of the VNZ Local Referee course online test (Click here to access).
Regional Qualifications - Required to referee at VNZ National Club Champs. Qualification requires attendance at a Regional Referee Course, 70% pass rate of a VBOP Regional Referee Exam AND practical assessment completed by a National Referee (appointed by VBOP) observing the candidate refereeing a game.
Between September to March each year VBOP runs a range of volleyball events. We are always looking for people to join our team and help out with the running of our events. We are looking for people who enjoy volleyball, listen to instructions and apply intiative in their work.
