U15 Teams Represent BOP with pride at IPC
The future of volleyball in the Bay of Plenty is looking brighter than ever after an impressive performance at the 2025 U15 Inter-Provincial Championships (IPC). Representing the region with pride and passion, Bay of Plenty entered six teams in total — an A team, a Development team, and a Year 9 team for both boys and girls — and walked away with strong results, exciting moments, and a wealth of experience that bodes well for years to come.
Top-Level Talent on Display from A Teams
Both the boys’ and girls’ A teams proved they could compete with the best in the country. With disciplined team play, smart decision-making, and relentless energy on the court, the A teams were a force throughout the tournament. The girls showed exceptional composure under pressure, with standout performances in the playoffs, while the boys delivered powerful serves, aggressive net play, and excellent defensive coverage.
The coaches praised the maturity and commitment of these young athletes, many of whom have come through Bay of Plenty’s local development programs and are now taking on leadership roles within their teams.
Development Teams Building Depth and Confidence
Bay of Plenty’s Development squads also had a strong showing, gaining invaluable game experience and proving they’re not far behind their A team counterparts. The girls’ Development team showed great chemistry, improving with every match and pulling off several hard-fought victories. The boys’ Development team impressed with their athleticism and potential, showcasing a deep talent pool that’s only going to grow in the coming seasons.
These teams were all about growth, and they succeeded in every sense — developing not only skills on the court but also resilience, teamwork, and a love for the game.
Year 9 Teams Show Future is Bright
Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the tournament was the promise shown by the Year 9 teams. Competing in their first IPC tournament, both boys and girls demonstrated raw talent, infectious energy, and a fearless approach to every match. Their enthusiasm was matched by their skill, with several standout performances that caught the attention of coaches and spectators alike.
For many of these players, this was their first experience at a high-level regional tournament — and they rose to the occasion. It’s clear that Bay of Plenty’s volleyball future is in excellent hands.
A Unified Effort from Coaches, Managers, and Supporters
None of this success would be possible without the dedication of a passionate and hard-working group of coaches, team managers, and supporters. From early morning practices to late-night team talks, this tournament was the result of months of preparation, planning, and commitment from everyone involved.
Special thanks go out to all the parents and supporters who traveled and cheered, and to the Bay of Plenty Volleyball Association for providing these young athletes with the platform to grow and thrive.
Looking Ahead
With the momentum from this successful IPC tournament, Bay of Plenty Volleyball is already looking ahead to future events, eager to build on what these teams have achieved. From the A teams to the Development and Year 9 squads, every player walked away from this tournament more skilled, more confident, and more connected to their volleyball journey.
Congratulations to all the players and staff — you’ve done the Bay proud.
