The Regional Referee Course is designed for referees who are ready to further develop their officiating knowledge and progress through the Volleyball New Zealand Referee Qualification Programme.
This course provides participants with the knowledge and understanding required to officiate at a regional level, including applying volleyball rules, understanding referee responsibilities, and making confident decisions in a match environment.
A Regional Candidate status is required to officiate at regional-level events, including competitions such as Club Bay Champs and Club Midlands.
Participants can attend one of the following in-person theory sessions:

📍 Location: Ōtūmoetai College Action Centre, Trophy Room, Windsor Road, Bellevue, Tauranga 3110
📅 Session 2: Wednesday 22 July
🕕 Time: 6:00pm – 8:30pm
📍 Location:Pāpāmoa Community Centre, Tohora Room, 15 Gravatt Road, Pāpāmoa Beach, Tauranga
The Regional Referee Course includes:
In-person theory course covering volleyball rules, referee responsibilities, positioning, signals and decision-making
Completion of the theory exam to become a Regional Referee Candidate, enabling participants to officiate at upcoming regional-level events
To complete the Regional Referee qualification, candidates must then successfully complete and pass practical assessments as:
First Referee
Second Referee
Scorer
Practical assessments will be arranged individually with participants following the course and completed during suitable tournament opportunities.
Prerequisite: Previous Local Referee experience is recommended.
