The National Referee Course is designed for referees who are ready to further develop their officiating knowledge and progress through the Volleyball New Zealand Referee Qualification Programme.

This course provides participants with the knowledge and understanding required to officiate at a national level, including applying volleyball rules, understanding referee responsibilities, and making confident decisions in a match environment.

A National Candidate status is required to officiate at national-level events, including competitions such as Club Championships.

Course Details

Participants can attend one of the following in-person theory sessions:

📅 Course 2: Sunday 2 August, 2026
🕕 Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
📍 Location: Tauranga Library, Heremanuhiri Room

Course Includes

The National Referee Course includes:

• In-person theory covering volleyball rules, referee responsibilities, positioning, signals, and decision-making.

• Completion of the theory exam to become a National Referee Candidate, enabling participants to officiate at upcoming national-level events.

To complete the National Referee qualification, candidates must then successfully complete and pass practical assessments during the Midlands and Club Championships.

Practical assessments will be arranged individually with participants following the course.

Prerequisite: Regional Referee Certified; or currently National Referee Certified and wishing to complete a refresher course.
